Jazz Cellar 11 invites you to a jazz evening dedicated to one of the brightest icons of cool jazz – Chet Baker. This concert celebrates the extraordinary musical legacy of the legendary trumpeter, vocalist, and composer, whose delicate sound, fragile voice, and unmistakable lyricism continue to captivate jazz audiences around the world.

Chet Baker was not only one of the defining musicians of his generation but also a true jazz legend. His music breathes elegance, romance, and melancholy, while his warm trumpet tone and intimate singing style became an essential part of the cool jazz aesthetic. Classics such as My Funny Valentine and I Fall in Love Too Easily remain timeless landmarks of jazz.

Behind the spotlight, Baker’s life was turbulent and full of contrasts—constant touring, international fame, addiction, dramatic twists of fate, and an endless struggle with himself. As one of his biographers famously wrote, “Baker was a great artist with great problems.” Yet it was precisely this vulnerability and sincerity that gave his music an extraordinary emotional depth that continues to move listeners to this day.

This evening, Chet Baker’s music will be brought to life by trumpeter Vytautas Skudas, a devoted admirer of Baker’s artistry.
