In 2018, the music world mourned the loss of Roy Hargrove, one of the most influential and versatile jazz trumpeters of his generation. A two-time GRAMMY Award winner, Hargrove left an indelible mark on jazz history with his virtuosic playing, innovative compositions, and a musical range that spanned multiple genres. Over the course of his career, he released an impressive body of work, including 24 solo albums, and collaborated with some of the most iconic names in music. From Afro-Cuban Jazz to Hard Bop, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Afrobeat, Hargrove was a master at blending different styles and breaking musical boundaries. To honor the legacy of Roy Hargrove, musicians from Lithuania have come together to pay tribute to this remarkable artist. They have organized a special concert, dedicated to Hargrove’s memory, where they will perform some of his most iconic compositions as well as other works that he helped popularize through his distinctive performances. This tribute not only celebrates Hargrove’s immense contribution to jazz but also reflects the deep impact he had on musicians across the world, including those in Lithuania. The concert promises to be a powerful homage, showcasing the timelessness of Hargrove’s music and the enduring inspiration he continues to provide to artists everywhere.
