Collaborative Jazz Septet — the only jazz septet in Lithuania that authentically performs original music inspired by the “bebop” and “hard bop” eras.

One of the best ways to grow as a musician or to discover new musical directions is collaboration. Collaboration with fellow musicians or with artists from other fields. And the more high-quality collaborations — the better. Of course, many artists understand this creative concept and actively use it, but the most important thing is not to forget its significance and artistic value in everyday life. This was also realized by good friends, performers, multi-instrumentalists, and composers Donatas Petreikis and Karolis Šarkus.

The two have known each other for many years, during which they listened to and discussed a lot of music together, exchanged thoughts about saxophonists, and shared their own compositions. All of this always stayed within the walls of the studio and never reached the public. Eventually, both musicians had gathered enough musical knowledge, joined forces, and — out of love for the jazz tradition — brought the Collaborative Jazz Septet to life.

Karolis and Donatas composed music and, together with the ensemble, recorded it into an album, which was released in digital format on November 1, 2020. In the summer of 2021, the album was presented live in six Lithuanian cities. In 2022, the group released their second album and vinyl record That Groove, which can also be found in video format on YouTube.
